Geothermal Update from Rieger Homes – Heat

THE HEAT IS ON! Progress continues on the home we are building with geothermal technology at Stratford Farms in the Town of Poughkeepsie. We are powering the heating and cooling systems without the use of traditional fuel oil or natural gas. In simple terms, geothermal systems tap the stored energy in the earth to power the specially designed mechanical systems in the home. By starting with the heat energy stored in the ground, it takes less energy to heat or cool your home. Less energy use equals lower energy bills. Geothermal technology not only benefits our environment, it substantially reduces monthly energy bills and has major tax credits available to the home buyer.
We’re happy to say the heat is on and the house is warm. We have three separate zones in this home, to better put the heat, or A/C, where you want it. Each zone is controlled with a programmable thermostat that allows you to automatically match your comfort to your needs. The system start-up went smoothly and it is performing as designed. There is no better time to feel good about choosing geothermal than in the winter. The equipment is purring, the house is warm, you haven’t paid for any fossil fuel, and you’re doing your part to offset global warming. In a nutshell – every winter will be a GREEN winter in this home.
